The Centre for the Study of Learning and Performance (CSLP) is proud to congratulate member Dr. Ghayda Hassan on receiving the Eradicate Hate Bridge Builder Award at the 2025 Eradicate Hate Global Summit (September 17).
This award recognizes Dr. Hassan’s decades of leadership in preventing violent extremism, building stronger and safer communities, and advancing collaborative approaches to reducing hate-fueled violence.
The Eradicate Hate Global Summit was established in the aftermath of the October 2018 massacre at Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life Synagogue—the deadliest anti-Semitic attack in U.S. history. Refusing to be defined by hate, survivors, families, and allies launched the Summit to bring together global experts, survivors, families, healthcare providers, law enforcement, and civil society leaders to move beyond dialogue and develop concrete, workable solutions to prevent hate-fueled violence worldwide.
Dr. Hassan, a clinical psychologist and professor of clinical psychology at UQÀM, is widely recognized for her work at the intersection of clinical cultural psychology, social suffering, and community resilience. She is the director of the Canadian Practitioners Network for the Prevention of Radicalization and Extremist Violence (CPN-PREV), UNESCO Co-Chair on the Prevention of Radicalization and Violent Extremism, and an active researcher with the SHERPA-RAPS team and the CIUSSS-COIM. Her research and clinical activities span issues of identity, belonging, and mental health among minority youth, interventions in family violence, and support for vulnerable immigrants and refugees.
The CSLP extends its warmest congratulations to Dr. Hassan for this well-deserved recognition of her remarkable contributions to preventing violence and strengthening communities worldwide.
