LTK Award of Excellence 2013

September 10, 2013

Congratulations to Ms Mary Ellen Lynch, a cycle 1 teacher from St-Johns Elementary school (Riverside School Board, Quebec) who is the third recipient of the LTK Award of Excellence.

Excerpt from the nomination letter: "Dedication, perseverance and enthusiasm mark Mary Ellen use of ABRACADABRA and ePEARL to teach her cycle-one students' literacy skills and to develop their capacity to be engaged and active learners. Being concerned with parental involvement as a defining factor in student success, Mary Ellen used ePEARL as a venue to engage her students' parents into commenting on their children portfolio work. She is one of the three recipients of the Professional Development and Innovation Grant (PDIG) called "Yes We Can: Facilitating the Use of Evidence-based Tools to Increase Cycle One Student Literacy" centered around professional mentorship. By virtue of this project Mary Ellen has evolved into an active participant of the emerging LTK master teacher community: she invited teachers in to her classroom, helped them to set up their own LTK practices and provided support to them... We think that this award is the recognition and acknowledgment she needs to shine amongs her peers and administrators"

The award was presented by Phil Abrami (Director, CSLP) to Ms Lynch at the Partnership Advisory Board meeting on September 10, 2013.
