Thank you to Don Dolan
Don Dolan, Digital Infrastructure Administrator in the Department of Journalism and the Department of Communication Studies at Concordia University, is retiring after 15 years.
Dolan's career spans nearly five decades across technology, media, and education.
His technical journey began in the 1970s, teaching the LOGO programming language to elementary school students. This early work led to an opportunity in the early 1980s to collaborate with Gordon Pask at Concordia University’s Educational Technologies Annex.
In the mid-1980s, he moved to Toronto, where he worked with print companies adopting the then-emerging PostScript language for colour separation and print production. Dolan was subsequently recruited by Southam Inc., and later joined the Toronto Star.
In the late 1990s, he relocated to the U.K. and Ireland, working with the Derry Journal, Mirror Group Newspapers Ltd, and later Guardian Media Group.
Finally, he returned to Canada in 2010, briefly working with the Montreal Gazette before rejoining Concordia University in the Departments of Journalism and Communication Studies.
Both departments would like to extend a thank you to Don Dolan for his contributions.
