The Department of Journalism is excited to announce the Projected Futures Science Journalism Summer School is back for its fourth edition from July 12 to 16, 2021. It will be delivered completely remotely.

Projected Futures 4 is a unique, blended course. Participants learn the ropes of science journalism theory, all while developing hands-on skills such as podcasting techniques, writing, social media and more. This year, our cohort of speakers includes science reporters Laura Helmuth, Ivan Semeniuk and Roxanne Khamsi, among others.

The intensive and experiential summer school challenges participants to rethink how science is communicated with society. Graduate students will be exposed to the foundations of evidence-based science journalism and then asked to experiment to create new forms of scientific storytelling. It is an unforgettable experience.

Applications are now open here. Deadline: March 29, 2020.
