Dr. Erica Lehrer publishes special issue of Holocaust and Genocide Studies

A special issue of Holocaust and Genocide Studies that Dr. Erica Lehrer co-edited with Polish colleagues has been published. The issue is entitled "Awkward Objects: Expanding the Boundaries of the Holocaust Archive." 

As Dr. Lehrer describes, "In theorizing the notion of "awkward", we attempt to reclaim non-traditional source materials discarded as unreliable, unworthy, incidental, or bizarre, in an attempt to move beyond the “comfortable horrible” of the twenty-first century's institutionalized, and at times commodified, global Holocaust memory. My hope is that our 11 authors' texts can be methodologically useful for undertaking comparative historical and cultural research by engaging with material culture."
