Helena Osana, Professor in Concordia's Education Department, has been awarded a Leverhulme Trust Visiting Professorship at Loughborough University (UK) to be held from May 1 to September 1, 2026.
The Leverhulme Trust Visiting Professorship enables UK universities to invite distinguished senior academics from overseas to spend between three and twelve months at a host institution, with the aim of bringing genuinely novel expertise and enhancing the skills and knowledge of academic staff and students, particularly in areas that are underrepresented in the UK. Awards support activities that extend beyond individual research to include collaboration, teaching, and broader intellectual exchange, and are intended to foster new or recently established partnerships. Selection is based primarily on the academic standing of the visitor and the extent to which the host institution will benefit from the proposed visit.
Helena will be hosted by the Department of Mathematics Education and the Centre for Mathematical Cognition. She will be giving three Leverhulme Lectures on early numeracy and mathematics instruction.
