A narrative CV is a format that provides a flexibly structured, written description of a researcher’s contributions and achievements. It has the potential to reflect a broad range of relevant skills, experiences, and qualitative impacts, more than can often be seen in a traditional academic CV.
The narrative format allows researchers to describe their varied contributions to research – beyond or instead of bibliometric measurements of scholarly publications – in a consistent way and across a wide range of career paths and personal circumstances. Narrative CVs are also condensed (typically 4-6 pages), are increasingly used for international funding opportunities, and are currently being piloted by the Tri-agency (e.g. NSERC Discovery Horizon) and it is anticipated that narrative CVs will become the standard for most funding programs soon.
This workshop will provide practical guidance for researchers who are crafting a narrative CV for the first time.
This event is intended for interested Concordia faculty and graduate students only.
