Institutions are often slow-moving, bureaucratic, and resistant to major changes. But there are other institutions out there, both trying to bring new voices into their decision-making and navigating representative structures.

This panel features philanthropic, public, and academic institutional organizations all working to better integrate community ownership into their processes. What are the challenges that come from bringing together a diversity of voices from across professional, personal, and even political backgrounds?

Join us on Tuesday, October 21st from 12:00-2:00pm at the SHIFT Centre for Social Transformation to hear from Fondation du Grand Montreal, Concordia Research and Education Workers Union (CREW), and Fondation Béati about how they’re working towards better community ownership.

Please note - this event is held in person, at the SHIFT space. If, for accessibility reasons, you are not able to join in person but would like to attend the event, please contact shift.calendar@concordia.ca and we can work together to see if an alternative solution is possible. A week’s notice will give us the best chance of making something work. Please also note that this discussion will take place in both English and French.

SHIFT Pathways Series: As part of our mandate to facilitate collaboration across difference and host a welcoming space for difficult conversations, SHIFT hosts the Pathways Skill Share series to bring together speakers from across Montreal to exchange about the concrete challenges of turning principles of social transformation into practice.
