As part of our ongoing collaboration with the Willem de Kooning Academy (WdKA), Concordia faculty and artists Miranda Smitheram and Kevin Yuen-Kit Lo are visiting WdKA this week. These presentations will be live from the WdKA Research Station and at 4th Space.

4th Space is collaborating with wdKA to livestream these artist talks. Please drop by 4th Space to watch and ask some questions.

Kevin Yuen Kit Lo is Assistant Professor of Communication Design and Visual Culture in the Department of Design and Computation Arts. He works at the intersections of graphic design, cultural production, and social change with a research focus on publication practices and social movements. His research is invested in exploring the tensions between material and relational studies of design as a means of fostering greater social and political autonomy.

Dr Miranda Smitheram is a design researcher, educator and artist, who explores themes of remediation and materiality. Originally from Aotearoa/New Zealand, she is currently Associate Professor of Material Futures in the Department of Design and Computation Arts at Concordia University. Miranda is the Director of MaSH Lab, and Co-Director of the Textile and Materiality Research Cluster at Milieux Institute of Arts, Culture and Technology, and a co-investigator member of the Hexagram Network- Réseau de recherche-création en arts, cultures et technologies.
