Urban Biodiversity in Montreal: Why should we care?

People don’t often think of urban centres when they think about biodiversity. And yet, cities are where most of us interact with nature most often.

While global biodiversity faces unprecedented challenges, we take the opportunity in this webinar to celebrate the biodiversity that surrounds us in Montreal. Which trees are native to Montreal and what is so unique about them? Which birds can you find in your neighborhood and what are their quirkiest behaviors? How can you tell a Monarch butterfly apart from a Viceroy?

These questions and more will be answered as our speakers outline some of the most interesting qualities of the species that we interact with every day, and discuss ways for each of us to reap the benefits of getting acquainted with our urban flora and fauna.
