Grading in large classes can be demanding, especially when trying to maintain fairness, consistency, and high-quality feedback.

This one-hour webinar offers practical, evidence-informed tips for streamlining grading and feedback in large-enrolment courses. The session will introduce key Moodle tools, such as rubrics, marking guides, group assignments, feedback files, and grading automation features, that can significantly improve efficiency and consistency. It will also explore inclusive strategies for giving effective, time-efficient feedback and for assessing group work in ways that are learner-focused and promote clarity and accountability.

Attendees will leave with concrete tips, examples, and a clearer sense of how to manage grading at scale in ways that that balance efficiency, fairness, and meaningful learning without sacrificing the quality of feedback students receive.

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize and adapt inclusive strategies for giving meaningful and time-efficient feedback.
  • Describe ways of assessing group work that are learner-focused and promote clarity and accountability.
  • Use key Moodle grading tools (rubrics, marking guides, group assignments, feedback files, comment banks) to streamline workflow and improve consistency.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive grading tasks to save time without compromising quality.
