About the project:

In Scene Trippers, Dream Clippers, What do you feel? What do you make real?, Nicole explores visual strategies of camouflage to blur the boundaries between figure and environment, figuration and abstraction, and subject and backdrop through painting and photography. The cryptid – a mythical animal whose existence is scientifically unfounded but culturally pervasive – acts as both site and subject for these in-between states and places of being. Portals to fictionalized body-places, her works center seduction, theatricality, child-like wonder, and the unknown in relation to the landscape.
