Vernissage of FOFA's Spring Exhibitions

Join us to celebrate the opening of FOFA’s Spring Shows on March 12th, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Between March 9 – May 22, the FOFA Gallery will present works by Tina Lam, Abi Hodson, and Po B. K. Lomami that explore the spectral presence of otherworldly forces at the threshold of material and immaterial experience, from subatomic particles to the transforming body of the city. Engaged tensions between visibility and opacity, proximity and distance, and the haptic desire to see and touch, these emerging artists attend to forms of presence that linger, pass through, or resist capture—whether in data, architecture, or the cosmos.

On view in the Main Space, Tina Lam’s ...and the Cosmos returns to claim its place is a site-specific installation that summons the cosmos into the gallery using ghostly black cinefoil shells that trace our entanglement with the unknown and the beyond-human.

On view in the Black Box and Ste-Catherine Vitrine, Abi Hodson presents Peep Show: Parallel loops, Porous lines, an immersive exhibition that merges human and city bodies, recontextualizing construction materials through an erotic register to unsettle ideals of newness and invite a coalition of changing sites and selves.

On view in the York Vitrines. Po B. K. Lomami’s Compartmental is an exhibition that addresses the architectures we build to live amid violence, displacement, and inherited and ongoing ruptures.

La Galerie FOFA est heureuse de vous inviter à célébrer l'ouverture de nos expositions de printemps le 12 mars de 17h à 19h.

Du 9 mars au 22 mai, la galerie FOFA présentera des œuvres de Tina Lam, Abi Hodson et Po B. K. Lomami qui explorent la présence spectrale de forces d’autres mondes à la frontière entre l'expérience matérielle et immatérielle, des particules subatomiques au corps en transformation de la ville. Engagés dans des tensions entre visibilité et opacité, proximité et distance, et le désir tactile de voir et de toucher, ces artistes émergent·e·s s'intéressent aux formes d'existence qui persistent, traversent ou résistent à la saisie, que ce soit dans les données, l'architecture ou le cosmos. 

À voir dans l'espace principal, ...and the Cosmos returns to claim its place de Tina Lam est une installation in situ qui invoque le cosmos dans la galerie par le biais de coquilles fantomatiques en cinefoil noir qui retracent notre enchevêtrement avec l’inconnu et le plus-qu’humain. 

À voir dans la Boîte noire et la Vitrine Ste-Catherine, Peep Show: Parallel loops, Porous lines d’Abi Hodson est une exposition immersive qui fusionne les corps humains et urbains, recontextualisant des matériaux de construction à travers un registre érotique afin de déstabiliser les idéaux de nouveauté et d’inviter une coalition de corps et de sites en devenir.

À voir dans les York Vitrines, Po B. K. Lomami présente Compartimental, une exposition qui aborde les architectures que nous construisons pour vivre au cœur de la violence, du déplacement forcé, ainsi que des ruptures héritées et en cours.
