Join the Société des Arts Technologiques (SAT) and Concordia University’s Faculty of Fine Arts for a public workshop exploring the creative potential of artificial intelligence in contemporary art and digital media.
Building on ongoing educational collaborations between SAT and Concordia, this session offers a practical dive into SAT's suite of creative AI tools, Suite SAT. Led by SAT Research Director Edu Meneses and Technology Development Director Jean-Michaël Celerier, the event will feature live demonstrations of their AI-driven tools, insights into real-time interactive workflows, and an open conversation on the future of AI in artistic research and production.
Jean-Michaël Celerier, director of technological development at the Société des Arts Technologiques (SAT), is interested in art, code, computer music, and the specification of interactive systems.
His background, based on software engineering, research in multimedia technologies following a PhD on the authoring of interactive media, and entrepreneurship through consulting and training activities, has led him to master a wide range of open-source technologies for media arts. He develops and maintains a suite of free software used for creative programming, digital art, and intermedia.
His work focuses on the ossia platform, of which he has been the lead developer since 2014. He enjoys organizing events centered on programming and digital arts and regularly teaches various programming languages and creative systems to students in computer science, sound, graphics, and design.
Edu Meneses is a music technologist, digital luthier, composer, and performer working at the intersection of sound, technology, and performance. As the Research Director at the Société des arts technologiques (SAT), Edu leads research and research-creation in immersion, interaction, and co-creation, uniting fundamental research with applied R&D. He holds a Ph.D. in Music Technology from McGill University (IDMIL and CIRMMT), specializing in embedded systems, gestural control, IoT, and sound spatialization. Active in the Quebec ecosystem, Edu combines an engineering background with research-creation to build tools that are robust enough for the stage and expressive enough for art exploration.
