Jennifer McGrath, Professor, Psychology, Concordia University
This talk takes a rogue tour of child health inequalities, spanning social position, contextual determinants, stressor exposure, and pathophysiological pathways. Integrating evidence from international cohorts, community-based studies, and psychophysiological research, Dr. Jennifer McGrath illustrates how social and environmental conditions amplify stress processes and disrupt sleep and circadian rhythms, with consequences for cardiovascular and mental health trajectories. The presentation highlights the complexity of multi-level influences on disease precursors and underscores the need for integrative approaches to understanding and ultimately addressing child health disparities.
The event is in person and will be followed by a reception.
Dr. Jennifer McGrath is a professor in the Department of Psychology at Concordia University. More information about her research can be found here.
