Join us for a panel discussion featuring sustainability professionals in their respective fields. Hear about their career trajectories, triumphs and challenges in the field as they discuss educational experience, career pathways, and the rewards of these various industries.

Target audience:

Undergraduate students and recent alumni studying in the Loyola College for Sustainability and Diversity, The Faculty of Arts and Science, John Molson School of Business, Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science, or other environmental-related fields interested in a career in sustainability.

The hour-long panel will be followed by a 20-minute networking session.

About the panelists

Mishel Wong is the founder of Bo, an award-winning impact startup driving the transition toward reusable packaging in Quebec and beyond. A former sales director in the food service industry, Mishel left a decade-long corporate career to launch Bo with a clear mission: to make reuse easy, measurable, and scalable. Since its launch in 2021, Bo has partnered with over 240 restaurants, institutions, and festivals, processing more than 4 million reusable containers. Through her leadership, Mishel is redefining how businesses and municipalities approach waste reduction and circularity. Known for her community-driven approach and commitment to building inclusive, sustainable systems, her work has been recognized by BMO’s Celebrating Women Grant Program, Scotiabank's Women Initiative Award, and Visa She's Next Award. She was also named Entrepreneur of the Year 2025 by Ascend Canada. In 2025, Bo was acquired by the largest recycling coop in Quebec, where she continues to advocate for innovation, collaboration, and representation in the circular economy. Melodie has a BA in Communications and Minor in Computation Arts from Concordia and currently pursuing her MSc in Environment and Sustainability at UdeM.

Daniel Martinez is a Montréal-based designer and entrepreneur, originally from Colombia, and co-founder of Cyrc, a circular design studio working at the intersection of design and circular economy thinking. Since moving to Montréal in 2007, he has built his career across design, branding, and business development. At Cyrc, Daniel focuses on sales, partnerships, and brand strategy, helping translate circular design ideas into real-world applications across retail, hospitality, and cultural spaces. His work is driven by a strong interest in how design can influence the way we produce, consume, and relate to objects. Through his entrepreneurial journey, Daniel shares a practical perspective on sustainability, emphasizing long-term thinking, responsible production, and the role of design in shaping more conscious systems and behaviors.

Andréa Ventimiglia (Knowledge Mobilization Manager, Sustainability in the Digital Age, Canada Hub) currently employs her wide complement of skills in research, analysis, editing and evaluation as Science Editor and Advancement Officer for both Future Earth and Sustainability in the Digital Age. Her approach to writing and fundraising is rooted in her diverse professional experience spanning program evaluation, international development, freelance science writing, and laboratory research. Prior to joining Future Earth, Ms. Ventimiglia worked as a science program evaluator helping to measure and valorize the societal impact of research and research funding. She holds a B.Sc. in Biology from the University of Waterloo, and a Masters in Journalism from Carleton University.

About the moderator:

Mélodie Le Siège is a strategic communications leader with a lens on sustainability. She lends her talent to innovative creative and digital initiatives that drive measurable impact for non-profits and mission driven organizations. At Concordia University, she spearheaded award-winning projects – including the milestone Concordia 50th anniversary – strengthening the university’s reputation and supporting its $365 million fundraising campaign. More recently, she helped lead Canada’s Circular Economy Month campaign, advocating for circular practices as a pathway to sustainable development. Melodie is currently pursuing an MSc in Environment and Sustainable Development at Université de Montréal. Midway through her career, she returned to graduate school to formalize her commitment to sustainability and build an interdisciplinary approach to environmental challenges. She specializes in governance and social issues, with particular focus on cities, biodiversity, sustainable mobility, the circular economy, mis/disinformation and climate justice
