Join us for a panel discussion featuring sustainability professionals in their respective fields. Hear about their career trajectories, triumphs and challenges in the field as they discuss educational experience, career pathways, and the rewards of these various industries.
Undergraduate students and recent alumni studying in the Loyola College for Sustainability and Diversity, The Faculty of Arts and Science, John Molson School of Business, Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science, or other environmental-related fields interested in a career in sustainability.
The hour-long panel will be followed by a 20-minute networking session.
Daniel Martinez is the Co-Founder and Creative Director of the company Cyrc, which 3D prints art-inspired vases and furniture from recycled plastics within a circular economy model. His lived experience as well as work with start-ups across the globe enables him to approach projects from a variety of perspectives and foster strong relationships that lead to positive results.
Andréa Ventimiglia (Knowledge Mobilization Manager, Sustainability in the Digital Age, Canada Hub) currently employs her wide complement of skills in research, analysis, editing and evaluation as Science Editor and Advancement Officer for both Future Earth and Sustainability in the Digital Age. Her approach to writing and fundraising is rooted in her diverse professional experience spanning program evaluation, international development, freelance science writing, and laboratory research. Prior to joining Future Earth, Ms. Ventimiglia worked as a science program evaluator helping to measure and valorize the societal impact of research and research funding. She holds a B.Sc. in Biology from the University of Waterloo, and a Masters in Journalism from Carleton University.
Mishel Wong is the founder of Bopaq and co-founder of the National Wash Network. She is on a mission to make reusable takeout packaging easy and accessible with a seamless deposit-return system. Since launching in 2021, Bopaq has processed over 2.4 million reusable containers and built a network of 200+ partners, including restaurants, caterers, festivals, and government organizations. While most clients are in Québec, they’re expanding beyond the province, aiming to make reuse the norm.
