Japanese Language and Culture Lounge

Our gatherings aim to provide opportunities to practice Japanese conversation through various topics and language games in level-based groups, as well as to explore cultural topics and connect with others in a friendly, safe, and inclusive setting.

Conversations take place small groups. While the focus is on Japanese, the use of other languages, such as English and French, is also welcome.

This initiative is intended for Concordia students and community members but is also open to students from other institutions. All levels of Japanese are welcome, including those who are simply curious about Japanese language and culture. No registration is required.

During the Fall 2026 semester, the Japanese Language and Culture Lounge is hosted by the Concordia Japanese Language and Culture Community and CSLP student affiliates (Ryuichi Suzuki, Vitor Yano, Aya Halliday, and Amy Cooper) with support from the Center for the Study of Learning and Performance (CSLP).

The weekly sessions run from September 29 to December 8, taking place every Tuesday from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the CSLP (Grey Nuns Annex [GA], Room 1.210, 1211 Saint-Mathieu St., Montreal, QC H3H 2S2). There will be no session on October 13.
