This monthly conversation series explores Paulo Freire’s “talking books”—works written collaboratively and in dialogue with other influential thinkers and educators.
Each session focuses on a different text, examining Freire’s ideas on critical pedagogy, popular education, liberation, and social change.
Featuring invited scholars who bring their own perspectives and experiences, the series aims to foster critical reflection, meaningful dialogue, and a community of people interested in Freire’s work and its continuing relevance to education.
The inaugural session will take place on October 29th, 2026, featuring the online participation of Peter Mayo (University of Malta).
Other invited scholars will include Fergal Finnegan (Maynooth University, Ireland), Hanne Svarstad (Oslo Metropolitan University, Norway), Monika Kastner (University of Klagenfurt, Austria), Tom Griffiths (University of Newcastle, Australia / Oslo Metropolitan University, Norway), and Josafá da Cunha (Federal University of Parana, Brazil).
The remaining sessions will take place on the last Wednesday of each month (except December): November 25th, 2026, January 27th, February 24th, March 31st, April 28th, and May 26th, 2027.
No previous participation or familiarity with the texts is required.
