Simon Nakonechny
Simon Nakonenchy graduated from the Graduate Diploma in Journalism program at Concordia University in 2016, where he earned the CBC Joan Donaldson Scholarship.
He started his journalism career with CBC’s flagship audio documentary program IDEAS. He has also made audio documentaries for The Sunday Magazine, The Doc Project and C'est la vie.
He later worked as a video journalist in the CBC Montreal newsroom for eight years. During that time, he was an on-the-ground reporter who filed hundreds of stories, including coverage of two provincial elections right from the campaign trail.
In 2024, he returned to radio full time and is currently CBC Montreal’s afternoon radio newsreader. In this role, he writes, edits, plans and delivers hourly newscasts for Quebec audiences on CBC Radio One and CBC’s streaming channels.
He is also a professional musician, husband and father.
