Concordia took the top spot in Canada and second place in North America in this year's “Next 50 under 50” list, recently published by the highly reputed QS World University Rankings.

Concordia has placed on the list since its creation two years ago to supplement QS's “Top 50 under 50” list and name the schools that place after the top 50. This year, Concordia placed in the 61-70 range.

The QS “Top 50 under 50” rankings are compiled by taking the top 50 universities founded in the last 50 years from the QS World University Rankings. Concordia was established in 1974. In the full World University Rankings, Concordia placed in the 461-470 range out of 916 universities.

The “Top 50 under 50” list is designed to highlight universities whose performance in teaching and research are impressive, especially given their age and resources. Each university is assessed through six indicators: academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations per faculty member, faculty/student ratio, proportion of international students and proportion of international faculty members.
