Ever wondered how to get started editing Wikipedia? Attend this workshop and learn all you’ll need to start contributing to Wikipedia.

What we’ll cover

  • Wikipedia basics: how it works, what to do/not do
  • Working in a sandbox: markup, adding images and how to use visual editing
  • Citing your sources
  • Ways to collaborate with other Wikipedians
  • Choosing and editing articles: existing articles, stubs and how to create a new article
  • How to use the library to find sources for Wikipedia content

Format

  • 1 hour presentation and Q&A
  • 1 hour hands-on workshop with help available

How to prepare: Create a Wikipedia account (this will take 1 minute)

This workshop is free and open to the entire Concordia community.
