Welcome to the Department of Theological Studies website. Our department is dynamically committed to outstanding scholarship and in-depth exploration of theological questions. I invite you to explore the various dimensions of our programs and course offerings as they are intentionally directed to the rich, diverse background of the student population at Concordia University and in the larger Montreal community.
Our accomplished faculty mirrors this diversity in the span of the theological questions explored which is amply demonstrated in their publications and research projects.
Our department encourages students to pursue their own theological quest and goals through the six areas within Theological Studies: Biblical Studies, History of Christianity, Ethics, Systematic Theology, Spirituality, as well as Religion and Politics. Students gain not only the ability to critically reflect on their own religions tradition and to interact with those from other religious traditions, they also are given concrete tools and skills to engage in many different professions: teaching, research, pastoral ministry, government or non-government positions (for example in areas related to ethics), and graduate or post-doctoral work.
You are welcome to contact our department and we will be pleased to discuss with you the exciting and rewarding possibilities of engaging in theological studies.
Dr. Marie-France Dion,
Chair
