Climate Emergency Committee

If you're ready to help fight climate change and promote education and action that can make a difference, come join us!

Overview

There are no more hypotheticals when it comes to climate change. It has arrived on our doorstep and is evident by the rise of severe climate events worldwide: From flooding and droughts to heat waves and hurricanes, no corner of the planet seems immune.

That's why we, as students and professors from Concordia University, have come together to take action against the global climate change emergency and encourage you to join this important cause.

What inspires us

The momentum generated by youth around the world protesting their governments’ insufficient progress towards meeting carbon reduction targets.

Our purpose is three-fold

  • Increase awareness and understanding in the Concordia and Québec community of the growing global climate crisis through education;
  • Develop, propose, and encourage Geography, Planning and Environment department policies to tackle climate change;
  • Inform and collaborate with interested parties about ways to reduce environmental impacts.

Our pledge

  • Dedicate our efforts towards developing and implementing solutions to the climate crisis and to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Reduce our individual and collective impact on the environment.
  • Urge all departments within Concordia and at other institutions to join us in promoting proactive climate change research and action.
