Hi everyone! My name is Poppy and I am a fourth year student double-majoring in Sociology and Urban Studies. You can usually find me cooking, listening to music, going for long walks, playing trivia, or spending time with friends and family.

The one thing I wished I would have known back in my first term is.... Every success story is backed by loads of trial and error. It can be easy to compare yourself to others in your class or those who have graduated, but remember that everybody is on their own path and that what is shared with others is often a highlight reel.

A tip for a new student is... Go to office hours! Office hours are a chance to ask your professor or TA an assignment question, discuss learning strategies, or simply chat the person you'll be learning from for the next several months. It will make a world of difference in connecting with your course material and making each class an intentional space.

My favourite part of being a Concordia student is... The integration of student-led initiatives across campus, especially those supporting food security and local agriculture. Every day, there is a new community event, workshop, guest lecture, or call to action open to Concordians and oftentimes the public: being an active citizen is so rewarding!
