Hi there! My name is Katrina, and I’m an early childhood and elementary education student at Concordia. I am a huge animal lover, an avid reader, a fan of all things funny and a professional-dessert-eater (but let’s keep that between you and me)!

The one thing I wished I would have known back in my first term is.... there are UNDERGROUND TUNNELS that connect the metro to Concordia! You can get to the Hall Building or the LB Building without walking outside. Thankfully, another student informed me of their existence during my first term, which saved me both time and from the elements (no rain or snow in the tunnels)!

A tip for a new student is... on a serious note: invest your time into learning university-level note-taking, academic reading and time management skills. The Student Success Centre has some great free resources (like handouts and modules) for this very purpose! As a uni student, you will have lots of homework to fit into your busy schedule. In fact, did you know that for every hour of time spent in class, you will have at least two hours of homework to complete? Take a look at those free resources; they will be well worth your time!

On a not-so-serious note: the Stingers Cafe on the fourth floor of the Hall Building serves awesome hot chocolate!

My favourite part of being a Concordia student is... being in a high-caliber academic environment that is open, tight-knit and supportive!
