Concordia University climbs the 2018 QS World Rankings by Subject
Concordia has again been recognized among the world’s top universities.
In the 2018 edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject (WURS), released on February 28, the university was a leading international institution in 15 of 48 subjects.
Last year, Concordia ranked in 15 of 46 subjects. Since then, QS WURS has added two more subjects for evaluation.
A total of 1,130 institutions from around the world were evaluated in 2018, up from 1,117 institutions in 2017.
Notably, Concordia is among the world’s top 100 universities — and among the top four in Canada (tied for first place) — in the Art and Design category.
The QS WURS evaluates universities by subject according to academic reputation, employer reputation and citations per faculty.
“As Concordia secures its place as Canada’s next-generation university, we‘re also securing our reputation among the world’s best schools,” says Graham Carr, provost and vice-president of Academic Affairs.
“We’re making excellent progress on our strategic directions, especially in terms of our teaching and research achievements. This is being noticed around the world which is a big reason why we continue to make our mark in international rankings.”
In July 2017, Quacquarelli Symonds named Concordia as the top Canadian university out of two in its 2018 Top 50 Under 50 Ranking. And in 2017, Concordia's hometown officially became the world's best student city.
The university was also recently named a top Montreal employer for 2018, the third year in a row it has been recognized as one of the city’s best places to work.
