Position description
The Department of Building, Civil, and Environmental Engineering at Concordia University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Transportation Engineering with specialized knowledge in intelligent transportation systems and expertise in one or more of the following areas: transport electrification; connected and automated vehicles; smart systems control and operations; emerging transport technologies; AI applications and big-data analytics for transportation; data-driven modelling in smart and green transportation; operational optimization and safety improvement in transportation engineering; transportation network data mining; machine learning for transportation networks, and sustainable transportation planning and decarbonization.
Duties include research, teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and service to the institution. This is a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor level, but exceptional applicants may be considered at the level of associate professor.
Qualifications and assets
Applicants must have an earned PhD in Civil Engineering or a closely related field or be near completion at the start date of the appointment. Membership or eligibility for membership in a Canadian professional engineering association, preferable in the province of Quebec, is required.
The main criteria for selection are scholarly and teaching excellence. The successful candidate will provide evidence of high-quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research leading to peer assessed publications and the securing of external research funding, as well as strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Industrial experience will be an asset.

The Department of Building, Civil and Environmental Engineering has a faculty complement of over 40 professors active in the various areas of building, civil and environmental engineering and its strength has rapidly been growing in recent years. The department offers PhD, masters and bachelor degrees in Building Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Environmental Engineering.
