Concordia introduces $4,000 entrance awards for top-achieving students

Concordia is putting its money behind academic excellence.

The university has launched the Concordia Undergraduate Excellence Awards, a new entrance award program that automatically grants $4,000 to eligible incoming undergraduate students from schools in Canada — no application, no essay and no extra step required.

Academic achievement is the main criterion for the award. Students admitted for fall 2027 or winter 2028 terms who meet the following academic thresholds will automatically receive the $4,000 award, provided they meet the other eligibility requirements:

• CEGEP: An R-score of 33 or above.
• Grade 12: An A or A+ average
• French Baccalaureate: An average of 16 or above.
• International Baccalaureate: A score of 35 or above.

The program sets Concordia apart: it is now the only English-language university in the province to offer a guaranteed, automatic entrance award of this kind.

“We want students and their families to have a clear picture of the support available as they consider Concordia,” says Savvy Papayiannis director of recruitment. “Knowing that your hard work qualifies you for a guaranteed $4,000 award can make a meaningful difference when planning for university.”

Papayiannis said the awards are designed to recognize high-achieving students and support their transition to university, while helping them see Concordia as a place where their academic achievements are valued.

“We know that students who enter university with strong academic records tend to maintain higher grades once they’re here, so we’re hopeful that recognizing and supporting these students from the outset will also contribute to their success and retention at Concordia,” said Papayiannis.

Faye Diamantoudi, Concordia’s provost and vice-president, academic, said the awards reflect the university’s commitment to recognizing student achievement early and directly.

"High-achieving students shouldn’t be required to jump through extra hoops to be recognized for it," said Diamantoudi. "These awards let us tell them, before they’ve even set foot on campus, that their achievement matters to us, and that choosing Concordia is a smart investment in their future."
