Did you notice the new blue logo? And the staff with their snazzy aprons? Concordia's freshly dubbed Book Stop (formerly known as Bookstore) got a makeover, and it has expanded time-saving services to optimize your efficiency.

Now, the Click and Collect service is available all year, so you can pre-order your books before picking them up from the store.

At the new Click and Collect counter, you can also add last-minute items to your purchase — so go ahead and pick up that Stingers mug or some Concordia sweatpants while you're at it.

Sabrina Lavoie, executive director of budget planning and business development, says Click and Collect was improved and expanded in response to increasing interest in online ordering of course material and other merchandise. It was a natural fit with Concordia’s recently launched e-commerce platform and redesigned website.

The convenience is catching on. Plus, students appreciate the in-store and online directories to help them find textbooks, as well as the Book Stop's printing stations for booklists.

“Our efforts have gone into updating the calibre of the space, modernizing our look, offering more services as well as creating a lounge area for students to study or for faculty book launches,” says Lavoie. “We hope the reconfigured public space — with its modern layout, big monitors, expanded title selection and improved services — will make the store a more inviting, welcoming destination for students and community members alike.”

In addition, there is new management. “I am pleased to present our new General Manager, Michel Jalbert, who brings to the store his extensive retail experience coupled with an increased focus on customer service,” says Lavoie.

Click and Ship: Postage paid

Shoppers have two options at checkout: collect your order in store or get your order shipped right to your door. The Book Stop now offers free shipping for orders to Quebec and Ontario exceeding $75. Orders will be filled and available for pick-up within two business days for all in-stock merchandise. You'll be notified by email when your items are ready. Just remember to bring identification (student or photo ID) and a digital or printed copy of your online invoice if you choose to show up to collect your order, instead of delivery. See our shipping policies here.

Books must be picked up from the campus where your class is taken. For those courses located at the Sir George Williams Campus, books will be available at the Book Stop in Room LB-03 of the J.W. McConnell Building. For courses at the Loyola Campus, books will be at the Book Stop in Room CJ-1.422 of the Communication Studies and Journalism Building.

Enter to Win Your Entire Purchase

Are you feeling lucky? Concordia Stores is once again running its Win Your Entire Purchase contest at the Book Stop, Book Stop Boutique, Campus Corner, Art Supply Store, Loyola Book Stop and online at www.concordiastores.ca until September 23.

Whether you’re buying your textbooks, school supplies or Concordia apparel, winners will receive the total amount of their purchase. Entering is simple: write your name, email address and phone number on your receipt and place it in the ballot box at the entrance of each store. Five winners will be chosen randomly from the total number of entries on September 30 and will be announced shortly after.

Steven Zulkarnain, store operations manager says that last year, five lucky students were refunded the total value of their purchases, representing over $2,000. “The response from students was great, especially at a time where they must contend with a multitude of expenses early in the school year.”

As the academic term progresses, watch out for ongoing changes at the Book Stop, including the one-floor layout with centralized cash registers and easy access to the new Starbucks next door. Coffee and books — it’s a good fit.
