New telecommunications policy

Document covers all common technologies, including video conference services

Concordia has a new telecommunications policy that recognizes the broader scope of technologies used for communications, such as teleconferences, video conferences and network services, in addition to traditional phones and fax machines.

“Telecommunications are such an ingrained part of our daily work that it’s important to define the acceptable uses of the university’s resources,” says Marc Denoncourt, associate vice-president of Information Systems and chief information officer. “The new policy clarifies the language used and includes all technologies commonly used for communications.”

The policy addresses the use of technology by individual faculty members, staff and students, as well as general use by departments and student organizations.
Issues clarified in the policy include personal long-distance calls and the purchase of telecommunications services and equipment not listed on the Instructional and Information Technology Services (IITS) web page.
