Sodec Prize for Emerging Talent Winner

Concordia's School of Cinema announces the winner of the inaugural Sodec Prize for Emerging Talent 2025.  

Sophia Chan Kong Randriamalala's project La Muraille was selected from a pool of outstanding applications.  The short film presents a grandmother and her grandson as they prepare a meal of wontons. The family ritual turns into a troubling dream-like journey where childhood collides with the realities of old age. The jury valued the submission's clearly presented vision, one that is full of narrative potential merging realism with the protagonists' states of mind.

Sophia graduated from Concordia's Film Production Program in 2023.
