Four Concordia alumni — Po B. K. Lomami, MFA 25, Sierra Barber, MFA 25, Miri Chek, MFA 22, and Myriam Simard-Parent, MFA 25 — have been selected for the inaugural cohort of Habiter le MAC, a new career development residency at the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (MAC).

Running from May to December 2026, the program places emerging artists at the heart of the Museum during preparations for the opening of the new MAC at Place des Arts in 2028.

The residency provides artists with a creative space, mentorship, and professional guidance, giving them the opportunity to develop their practice while fostering meaningful encounters with the public.

The program led by the Museum is supported by a representative jury, which includes members from Concordia’s Faculty of Fine Arts. Concordia alumnus and former Concordia Studio Arts professor, François Morelli, BFA 75, has also been entrusted with the role of mentor for the cohort.

“Habiter le MAC is an extraordinary platform for our alumni to develop their practice while engaging with the broader arts community,” says Annie Gérin, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts. “By providing dedicated time and resources at this pivotal stage, the program helps strengthen both the artists’ creative potential and Quebec’s vibrant cultural landscape.”

Gérin notes that the residency exemplifies how institutions can support the next generation of artists, a stance reinforced by the MAC and partner organizations.

Building on this support, over the next eight months the cohort will work on-site at the MAC, participating in exhibitions, public programming, and dialogues with cultural professionals, gaining tools to sustain long-term artistic careers.
