In 2012-13, Dr. François-Marc Gagnon, internationally recognized as an outstanding senior scholar in Canadian visual culture, will be offering two online Canadian Art courses through eConcordia. ARTH 271: Introduction to Canadian Art, given in the Fall 2012 term, emphasizes Quebec art within the greater Canadian context. Focusing on key figures such as Paul-Émile Borduas, will lead students to discover the evolution of landscape painting, symbolism prevalent in Quebec art, and the rise of abstraction. ARTH 272: From Realism to Abstraction in Canadian Art, offered in the Winter 2013 term, provides students with the unique opportunity to fully question the techniques of art-making through a thorough examination of realism, symbolism, and abstraction.

PLEASE NOTE:

These online e-Concordia courses are open only for students who are NOT registered in any program in the Faculty of Fine Arts.
