The Canadian Practitioners Network for the Prevention of Extremist Violence (CPN-PREV) has released a new resource for professionals entering the Prevention of Violent Extremism (PVE) field: Partnering in Practice: An Onboarding Guide for New PVE Practitioners.
Developed collaboratively by the CPN-PREV team and the Partnering in Practice (vPiP) community, the manual was authored primarily by CSLP Research Coordinator Dr. Zeina Ismail-Allouche, with contributions from a broad network of practitioners and researchers across Canada.
The manual offers foundational guidance for those beginning work in PVE, addressing key topics such as Canada’s PVE landscape, practitioner positionality, risk and protective factors, case management, collaboration, and well-being. Beyond simply introducing concepts, it reflects the voices and experiences of practitioners who contributed insights grounded in daily practice.
According to CPN-PREV, the manual is the result of a deeply participatory process rooted in collective knowledge-building and is meant to evolve with the community it serves — to grow through shared use, feedback, and reflection.
Structured in seven sections that can be read sequentially or individually, the guide is designed to be practical and adaptable. Organizations and practitioners interested in accessing the manual are invited to complete an access request form on the CPN-PREV website.
