The Centre for the Study of Learning and Performance (CSLP) is pleased to congratulate Guillaume Jabbour, Doctoral Fellow in Communication Studies at Concordia University and CSLP Student Affiliate, on receiving a SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship—Doctoral (CGS-D) valued at $120,000 over three years.
Jabbour’s research-creation project, titled “Delayed Return: An Ethnography of Music and Sound Among Diasporic Palestinians,” explores Palestinian identity through the lens of sound studies. Employing walking, radical listening, and collective participatory methodologies—including soundwalking, walking interviews, field recording, and soundscape composition—his work aims to document and interpret the lived experiences of diasporic Palestinians through sound.
The project will culminate in the creation of soundscapes and an interactive exhibit that amplify contemporary voices, traditions, and concerns, offering new ways of valuing knowledge rooted in displacement and cultural continuity.
Jabbour is also affiliated with the Centre for Oral History and Digital Storytelling and Aging in Data, alongside his engagement at the CSLP.
