The Centre for the Study of Learning and Performance (CSLP) is pleased to announce that the 2025 Pedagogical Innovation Awards will be held on Thursday, September 11, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the CSLP’s Research-Creation room (GA 2.221).
This year’s edition introduces a new prize category for innovation in student teaching, open exclusively to Concordia University students. Eligible innovations could be either curriculum-based or technological, reflecting the range of creative approaches student teachers bring to the classroom.
The Pedagogical Innovation Awards and Symposium acknowledge and reward teaching professionals who implement creative practices in their classrooms by offering a monetary prize and the opportunity to promote their innovations and engage in dialogue with peers and researchers. Any teaching professional (full-time or part-time) in a government-recognized public or private elementary or secondary school in Quebec is eligible to apply for the $1,000 awards, which aim to:
- Recognize innovative teaching practices.
- Bring teachers together with educational researchers to explore connections between classroom innovations and recent research findings.
- Share these innovations more widely with the teaching and research community.
Previously, the awards have featured two categories:
- Technological Innovation — including new uses for computer programs, mobile applications, video games, or other digital tools to engage students.
- Curriculum Innovation — including new Learning and Evaluation Situations (LES), fresh approaches to challenging topics, or experiential learning activities outside the classroom.
The Innovation in Student Teaching category expands the scope of the awards by celebrating the contributions of emerging educators at Concordia and showcasing the creativity and ingenuity they bring to their practice.
On September 11 we will celebrate this year’s outstanding achievements in pedagogical innovation.
