Sleep is essential for physical and mental health. However, sleep deprivation is common among Canadians. In this presentation, I will discuss the importance of having a good night’s sleep for overall health and present the recommendations for healthy sleep. I will also talk about the connection between sleep and obesity. The concept of “sleep health” will be introduced and I will highlight recent findings from a sleep manipulation study we are conducting in Ottawa.
