Starting a PhD can be both exciting and overwhelming, especially as students navigate new expectations, systems, and communities. The Doctoral Peer Mentorship Program, offered by the School of Graduate Studies, supports first-year doctoral students through structured peer mentorship groups led by trained senior PhD mentors. The program helps students build connections, confidence, and clarity early in their journey.
This 1-hour information session will:
Introduce the goals, structure, and impact of the Doctoral Peer Mentorship Program
Highlight how the program complements existing academic, professional, and wellness supports
Feature insights from current mentors about their experiences supporting peers
Provide opportunities to ask questions and explore how this model can benefit students or departments
Whether you’re a new or incoming PhD student, a faculty or staff member supporting doctoral students, or someone interested in student success initiatives, you’re welcome to join.
