Advance registration is required.

The thesis proposal is an important step in the graduate academic journey and can be a helpful tool for both Master’s and Doctoral students in clarifying their goals, research questions, research methods, and timeline. A thesis proposal is a roadmap for your research, and understanding how to effectively write and structure a proposal can make for a smoother process.

In this workshop, students will be introduced to some of the different kinds of thesis proposals and will be encouraged to consider which fits their research best. The workshop will provide opportunities to think through research questions, methodologies, and other important sections that make up a thesis. Finally, suggestions and tips for how to structure and plan proposals will be discussed.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the important aspects of a thesis proposal;
  • Understand how to structure and plan their own research proposal;
  • Identify available resources for proposal writing;
  • Plan their research process and timeline.
