As age verification requirements expand around the world—from social media and AI chatbots to online gaming and adult websites—an important question remains: How can we protect children online without compromising privacy and digital rights?

Join us for the launch of Safe or Secure? Decoding Age Verification in the Digital Era, a new book by Azfar Adib that explores one of today's most pressing digital policy challenges from a holistic perspective.

Drawing on his research at Concordia University, as well as his longstanding public and policy engagement on this issue, Azfar Adib traces the evolution, opportunities and challenges surrounding age verification technologies, standards, regulations and most importantly, their role in advancing online safety.

The event will feature an overview of the book, followed by a discussion with invited experts and an interaction with the audience. Together, we will explore how technology, ethics, and public policy can work together to build a more trusted digital future.
