This roundtable considers the significance of the especially strong presence of Asian Canadian artists at the 2026 Venice Biennale across national, invited, and affiliated platforms. Bringing artist Marigold Santos into conversation with Kim Nguyen, curator of the Canada Pavilion, art historian Asia Benedetti, and co-chairs Alice Ming Wai Jim and Marissa Largo, the session reflects on the practices and trajectories that converged in Venice and on the conditions under which Asian diasporic artists are exhibited, interpreted, and circulated. Participants will discuss artistic and curatorial experience, diasporic representation, national frameworks, and the broader stakes of visibility at this particular moment.

The roundtable asks what this convergence makes possible for Canadian, diasporic, and global art histories, while also attending to the interstices, institutional structures, and forms of relation that shape participation in the Biennale. The conversational format will include brief individual reflections followed by discussion among participants and with the audience.
