The raccoon next door: A discussion on animal intelligence and human-wildlife coexistence

PhD Candidate and Public Scholar Louis Lazure engages in a dialogue with Professor Sarah Benson-Amram about animal cognition, human-wildlife coexistence, and the challenges and opportunities of studying animal behaviour. They both share the raccoon as one of their main study species, and will share their experience and anecdotes about this fascinating animal! This discussion will interest students and young researchers in zoology and ecology, as well as anyone that enjoys learning about wildlife and their incredible abilities.

Louis Lazure is a PhD candidate in Biology and Research Coordinator at Zoo de Granby. He is studying how mesopredators cognition influences human-wildlife interactions and their management in protected areas. 

Dr. Sarah Benson-Amram is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology at the University of British Columbia. She studies behaviour, ecology and cognition in a range of mammalian carnivores, and aims to apply her findings to improve outcomes for wildlife.
