For the second year in a row, Anne-Marie Nguyen, a JMSB co-op student who lost her mother to breast cancer last year, is organizing a pink rose breast cancer fundraiser.
Concordia's Institute of Co-operative Education has once again joined with Anne-Marie's co-op employer, Nestlé Health Science, to support her breast cancer pink rose fundraiser. Thanks to your generosity last year, over $22,000 was raised for the cause.
"On February 21, 2023, my mom lost her battle against breast cancer, after 3 years of courage and fight. For the second year in a row, I will honour her on Mother's Day by fundraising for the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation and by raising awareness about breast cancer prevention and detection," explains Anne-Marie, who is in her final year of her bachelor's degree in International Business, with a minor in Management.
"Mother's Day is hard for me, so I am happy to be doing something positive for other mothers out there."
A team of volunteers, including Concordia students, staff from the Co-op team, and Anne-Marie's colleagues from her coop employer, Nestlé Health Science, will come together to sell pink roses for Mother's Day. All proceeds will go to the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation.
“As an intern with us at Nestlé Health Science, Anne-Marie has inspired us so much as she honours her mother with this wonderful event. We are thrilled, once again, to support her fundraiser for the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation,” says Josie Scalia, BComm 95, Vice-president (Head of Tax) at Nestlé Health Science and a member of the board at the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation.
Cherine Zananiri, director of Experiential Learning and Co-operative Education at Concordia is also impressed by Anne-Marie's initiative.
“While honouring her mother’s memory, Anne-Marie has put her studies at John Molson into action. Her fundraising success last year is thanks to her excellent entrepreneurial acumen. We are so happy to be able to support her again as she truly learns by doing,” says Zananiri.
