Every day, we use hundreds of sites and apps without giving them a second thought. The reason we’re able to jump onto new digital products so effortlessly is because someone has thought long and hard about where every word, line, button, and picture goes.

In this webinar, Charlie Gedeon, BComm 14, will explain the basics of User Experience (UX) design and the effort that goes into crafting even the simplest of apps. He’ll go through examples of hiding the complexity of technology; what designs look like before they go public, and what skills are needed to practice UX design professionally or as a hobby.

Whether you’re considering a career shift or you’re insanely curious about the digital world, you’ll leave this talk with a newfound appreciation for technology and the work that goes into a seamless experience.

Product Designer, Waverly

Charlie Gedeon is fascinated by informal learning, speculative technology, and how the stories we tell ourselves can limit or expand our own futures. He exercises these passions in his practice as a designer at Waverly, a Montréal-based startup that's building the future of social algorithms, in his lectures and workshops as an educator, and in his ideas as a writer.

He also teaches Creativity, Innovation, and Critical Thinking to graduate engineering students at Concordia and was a co-founding member of Concordia's District 3 Innovation Centre.

He is an alumnus of Concordia University and the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design.
