About the Event

Building on acquired knowledge in the Biodiversity Training Sessions, participants of this workshop will work in groups on a fictitious case study and receive feedback and guidance from the industry expert leading the case.

A knowledge gap exists within the investment community about how to manage the risks and opportunities associated with biodiversity conservation. This leaves investors, including those that already integrate ESG issues into their investment decisions, vulnerable to a magnitude of risks.

In this presentation, the Karner Blue Capital team will explain the importance of incorporating biodiversity risk into the stock evaluation process and how to make informed investment decisions around this topic. The agenda for this event are:

·      Spotlight the biodiversity risks associated with the Metals & Mining industry, one of KBC’s biodiversity impact industries

·      Conduct an industry case study for a Metals & Mining company by highlighting the Key Performance Indicators that showcase how the company is reshaping the industry standard for a biodiversity leader.

Reasons to attend

  • Apply acquired knowledge acquired during the training session to a case study
  • Discover challenges and questions that could be faced when implementing a strategy that puts biodiversity risks and opportunities at the forefront

Audience

  • Attendees of the Economics Behind Biodiversity Series: Pricing Biodiversity Loss Impacts training session

  • Individuals with a good fundamental understanding of the topic

Series Overview

According to the United Nations, biodiversity is the backbone of the world’s economy. Businesses must acknowledge their impact and dependency on biological diversity and ecosystem services. Achieving the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity provides opportunities for businesses, and in doing so, better positions them to exploit those opportunities and avoid risks.
