Join us for the launch of the exhibition of Activism in Print (2000-2025), an archive created by Stefan Christoff at the Concordia Librairies.
This exhibition showcases print material createdin the context of different community organizing campaigns and grassroots collective struggles in Montréal. The works on public display include zines, posters and photographs.
Curated by community organizer, artist and Concordia graduate student in the History Department, Stefan Christoff, all the selected materials are a part of a recently acquired special collection, the Stefan Christoff Collection (CO47), housed in Concordia’s Special Collections and Archives.
This event will include a projection of posters and print materials that is included in Stefan Christoff’s special collection at Concordia University.
- History department professor and educator Désirée Rochat will share her experiences in doing long term detailed archival work within Black community organizations and arts spaces.
- Artist Christeen Francis, a member of the Justseeds artists’ cooperative will be present to share about her work at the frontlines of alternative print culture and social movements. Christeen is currently teaching Print Media classes at Concordia.
This event will include live silk-screen printing of a screen supporting the housing justice movement, coming out of the housingjustice.now gathering last spring.
The exhibition is running Monday, January 19, 2026 – Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at the Webster Library.
This display is an opportunity for students and community members to engage with a living archive of print material that speaks to recent collective, non-governmental organizing efforts in the city. The works show the organic intersections between local struggles for justice and the arts, examples of collaboration between cultural workers and community organizers.
Activism in Print builds on Christoff’s research around creating routes for archiving the often ephemeral papers and materials created by community campaigns and grassroots activism in the city. The zines, posters and photographs selected embody three focus points of Montreal-based collective organizing: the interlinking of climate justice and Indigenous sovereignty, migrant and refugee rights, and the movement to support Palestinian freedom.
This launch event is supported by SEIZE and the exhibition project overall is co-presented by the Social Justice Centre at Concordia University, CKUT 90.3 FM and Raah Media Research Lab.

ACTIVISME POUR LA JUSTICE SOCIALE À MONTRÉAL 2000-2025

Cette exposition présente des documents imprimés créés dans le cadre de différentes campagnes communautaires et luttes collectives populaires à Montréal. Les œuvres exposées au public comprennent des zines, des affiches et des photographies.
Organisée par Stefan Christoff, organisateur communautaire, artiste et étudiant diplômé du département d'histoire de Concordia, tous les documents sélectionnés font partie d'une collection spéciale récemment acquise, la collection Stefan Christoff (CO47), conservée dans les collections spéciales et archives de Concordia.
Cet événement comprendra une projection d'affiches et de documents imprimés qui font partie de la collection spéciale de Stefan Christoff à l'université Concordia.
- Désirée Rochat, professeure au département d'histoire et éducatrice, partagera son expérience dans le domaine de l'archivage détaillé à long terme au sein d'organisations communautaires et d'espaces artistiques noirs.
- L'artiste Christeen Francis, membre de la coopérative d'artistes Justseeds, sera présente pour parler de son travail à l'avant-garde de la culture imprimée alternative et des mouvements sociaux. Christeen enseigne actuellement les médias imprimés à Concordia.
Cet événement comprendra une sérigraphie en direct d'un écran soutenant le mouvement pour la justice en matière de logement, issu du rassemblement housingjustice.now du printemps dernier.
L'exposition se tiendra du lundi 19 janvier 2026 au mercredi 25 mars 2026.
Cette exposition met l'accent sur trois thèmes particuliers, incarnés dans les documents imprimés : les luttes pour la justice climatique liées aux droits territoriaux des autochtones, le travail d'organisation communautaire visant à promouvoir les droits des communautés immigrantes et réfugiées dans le cadre d'une lutte plus large contre le racisme, et le mouvement de soutien à la liberté de la Palestine.
Activism in Print s'appuie sur les recherches menées par Stefan Christoff afin de créer des moyens d'archiver les documents et les matériaux souvent éphémères issus des efforts d'organisation communautaire populaire. Il est important de noter que cette exposition est un outil permettant de trouver des moyens d'activer et de mobiliser ces archives dans un contexte d'éducation populaire publique sur le campus et au-delà.
Le lancement de Activism In Print est organisé en collaboration avec le Centre pour la justice sociale de l'Université Concordia, CKUT 90.3 FM, SEIZE Concordia et Raah Media Research Lab.
