This workshop introduces the beauty, history, and delicate flavors of traditional Japanese confectionery (wagashi) through the experience of making a type of wagashi called nerikiri.
Enjoyed for centuries and often served with tea in Japan, nerikiri reflects both seasonal changes and Japanese aesthetics.
The workshop will feature KotoAn Wagashi, a Montreal-based nerikiri business.
Concordia students are invited to learn about the cultural background of wagashi and nerikiri and experience the craftsmanship behind these traditional sweets.
Workshop is free, but limited to 10 participants so please be sure to register. Two sessions will be offered, from 1:00-2:15pm, and from 3:00-4:15pm.
This event is part of the EmpowerGrad offerings of the CSLP, in collaboration with Concordia Japanese Language and Culture Community and funded by the Concordia Council on Student Life (CCSL).
