Arctic Bay is located at the top of Baffin Island and is primarily an Inuit community (94% aboriginal). The community shows a high percentage of tertiary industry (80%). The population (543) has increased by 14% in recent years. The labour force participation rate is 56% and the unemployment rate is 19%.

The initial set of Profiles was based on the 1996 Census and 2001 NRE site profiles data. The updated Profiles are based on 2001 Census data and 2003 NRE site profiles data.
