Demjai Edwards
Major Sociology
Minor English Literature
Former Student Ambassador, NouLa
I'm motivated to connect with people because I know that sometimes, all someone needs a perspective shift, a reaffirmation, or just a space where they can relax and let go of the facade that they have everything figured out.
As an artist, I want my work to build bridges for people who feel alone in their experiences. In particular, I love going to open mics because of the sense of community.
Lisa Ofili
Major Biology
Minor Sustainability Studies
Former Student Ambassador, NouLa
I strive to help those around me while simultaneously learning from them. Being Nigerian, community-building is very important in all aspects of my life.
I’m proud of the communities I helped cultivate, including my high school’s Black Student Union as well as our Young Women in Biology program. As I progress on my pre-med path, I would like to continue to working with women in science as well as the Black/African community.
Uyi Oronsaye
Major Software Engineering
Former Intern, Beat the Odds
I’m driven by the belief that perseverance always leads to progress, no matter how long or difficult the road. Leadership, to me, means paving the way forward while bringing others along for the journey.
I aspire to build a career in tech where I can both grow and give back, especially by inspiring younger generations to pursue their interests in technology and believe in their potential.
Kristen Russell
Major Art History and Studio Art
Minor Psychology
Former Peer Wellness Ambassador, CU Wellness
I believe art holds a profound potential for social transformation and collective world-building. As a leader, I aim to cultivate spaces where I can extend this sense of belonging to others.
I’ve had the privilege of providing peer support to fellow students through CU Wellness and the Mindful Campus Initiative. More recently, my internships with Mossy Society and Welcome Haven have allowed me to expand my community work beyond the university. My goal is to keep working in spaces that nurture collective care and belonging and, if I'm able to swing it, incorporate art-making!
Ariana Tomé
Bachelor of Commerce, Marketing
Former Intern, Beat the Odds
What drives me is making things work: solid plans, accessible resources and teams that feel supported. Leadership, for me, is about being reliable, communicating early and giving people the tools they need.
I was part of the John Molson Marketing Association, where I provided tutoring services for Marketing students taking their first major courses. I am also part of the Engineering and Commerce Case Competition, where I am in charge of training industry professionals as judges, drafting the competition's rules and regulations and communicating with our participating universities' coaches. Previously, I volunteered at Concordia's Sustainability Volunteer Program.
