This training is offered by GradProSkills. It is only open to graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.

Advance registration is required.  

Working in teams can lead to innovative ideas and strong performance that you wouldn’t be able to achieve on your own, but it can also be stressful. Join us for this 2 hour interactive workshop to learn about the how to thrive in a team environment and demonstrate strong leadership whether you’re the designated team leader or you play a different role in the team. In this workshop you’ll learn expert views on the factors that affect team performance, discover the how team norms are created and the influence they have on team performance, and learn about how to manage team conflict. Whether you have experience leading teams or not, this workshop will equip you with the skills required to improve your performance in team settings in any setting.

Register by Sunday, November 2.

Through activities and discussion, participants will learn to:

  • Identify and influence factors that affect team performance at an individual, team and organizational level  
  • Identify positive and negative team norms, plus develop strategies to create them effectively at different stages in a team’s lifespan  
  • Learn about different conflict styles and how to manage team conflict in ways that are sensitive to the context, required outcome and the needs of other team members
